Loneliness?...NO!I've F.R.I.E.N.D.S
I have working parents. Since childhood,I used to stay alone in my house, playing with my toys, waiting for my parents to come home. When they came they used to be very tired, they could not give me that much time. It often makes me sad. That was the reason, I used to love going to school. Because there were my friends with whom I spent some joyful yet challenging times. Looking back at the end of the day,it feels like it would have been nice to relive those days again. Friends hold great significance in my life because there are many days I might not have been able to get through without them. All in all,it is not possible to express it in just a few lines. However, the friends I am going to talk about now are completely different but very close to my heart, and its name is F.R.I.E.N.D.S!
F.R.I.E.D.S is a 90's tv show which is based in Manhattan. The show is about 6 friends who go through just about every life experience imaginable together. Love, marriage, divorce, children, heartbreaks, fights, new jobs and job losses and all sorts of drama. The first time I heard about it was from my elder sister. She gave me some ideas about the tv show F.R.I.E.N.D.S. She described it so beautifully that I couldn’t wait to start watching it.But I didn’t get much time for it. In between, I saw a few clips from F.R.I.E.N.D.S from YouTube, which made me even more interested in watching the show. Then came that dreadful moment in my life – the admission period, one of the most terrifying times of my life. During that time, I hadn’t seen my own friends for many days. It was a very depressing period and that’s when I started watching F.R.I.E.N.D.S. In all 10 seasons, I found so many things relatable to my own life. I did not even realize when it started becoming my favorite. But when I finished watching it all, I felt like I had learned a lot about life. At the same time, I found six friends whose life stories made me laugh, cry, I became emotional at times and taught me to take realistic, timely actions. I don't even remember when I began to see myself as part of them. At that stage in life, when family is not around, I realized how friends can become your family. Watching F.R.I.E.D.S makes you understand how choosing the right friends can make life heavenly. Friends will stay with you selflessly, while everyone else may come and go, but they seem to be your eternal companions.
There are six main characters in the Friends TV show: Ross Geller, Monica Geller, Chandler Bing, Phoebe Buffay, Rachel Green, and Joey Tribbiani. Although,my favorite character is Joey Tribbiani, I relate the most to Monica Geller. Monica is a motherly figure who takes care of everyone,a very energetic, and compulsive and strictly organized neat freak who loves to clean and play everything by the rules. I find myself similar to her, as I also love keeping things organized and neat. What I relate to most is how she keeps everyone together and is always eager to help others. I feel that if I were to act as any character, it would definitely be Monica Geller.
There are moments in life when we are no longer children, and responsibilities slowly start to come our way. We have to leave our homes and families behind. At the beginning of this year, such a moment arrived in my life. For higher studies, I had to leave my hometown, Cumilla, and move to Dhaka for the sake of my own good and for my career. The friends I grew up with, who were so close to my heart and whose presence would lift my spirits, were left behind as I started my journey alone. In a city where I knew almost no one, I had to build my own identity, adapt to the people around me, continue my studies, and start a life where there was no one familiar. It was far from easy. Just like in the Friends TV show, a relatable chapter of my life began where friends became family. Rachel Green has a famous line when she was facing lots of issues, but her friends were there to show care, love, and warmth. She said," I have my magic beans".In a similar way, I found my "magic beans". It is because of them that I’ve managed to survive so far and continue to fight through the various challenges that come with each day. Their presence makes me feel like I can face anything.
There’s a popular quote, "Friends are the family you choose" and luckily, I’ve found my own family, for which I feel truly blessed. I’ll end with Phoebe Buffay’s famous line: "Boyfriends and girlfriends are gonna come and go, but this is for life".
Even if someday I need Friends, and I don't have them by my side I'll still have F.R.I.E.N.D.S it'll just take a little time to stream!
